The Written Word
A warm thanks to architecture critic Lynn Becker for mentioning me and the Urban Observer in his blog today. Overall, he makes an important point about the shrinking architecture coverage in this town. Lynn writes a fine blog himself. He does consistently great work critiquing what's been built--and in showing how politics and clout shape development.
PS: I got a good chuckle out of this line in Lynn's piece: " Lee is in that euphoric stage, just before the postpartum letdown of realizing what a pain it can be keeping up with a blog's ravenous appetite for new content..."

Lee,
Your post reminded me of something. Thanks to the Chicago Public Library's City of Big Readers Adult Reading Program (http://www.chicagopubliclibrary.org/pdf/SRP_07_Adult%20Guide_16.pdf), I started reading Blair Kamin's "Why Architecture Matters" this weekend. (I actually just finished an essay on Block 37 where you were mentioned.)
I am really enjoying the essays so far and thought that it would be great to have a magazine that was devoted to Chicago Architecture.
Anyone out there want to bankroll Chicago Architecture Magazine?

thanks, Jeff (i like Kamin's book as well.)
I'm hoping the new AIA Chicago Magazine, called Chicago Architect, will fill that role, or at least part of it. But if you hit the lottery and become that person who can bankroll, I am going to come calling for you.
