Douglas Park Auditorium

At Kedzie and Ogden. Originally Douglas Park Auditorium, one of the many centers of Jewish life in the pre-World War II Lawndale community. In more recent decades, the building has been beautifully maintained as Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith. (photo by Lee Bey)

This is at Ogden and Kedzie

you're right. duly corrected

This one is kind of sad actually...This great old building doesn't really look like it's fared all that well as of mid 2008. It is kind of showing it's age now, and is more like a tarnished heirloom in a dusty attic. The surrounding neighborhood is not in the best shape. I was there on 5/5 scoping the old auditorium out, and it looks like it could use a good painting.

I'm thinking about trying to get involved with preserving homes in Bronzeville and surrounding areas. Maybe I should get with the new Alderman? The old battle axe Dorothy is gone...At least I could be doing something I really care about..
